On Saturday, 10th September 2016, I had a very great experience. That day my school held a cultural festival at Lapangan Bali. The event was organized by the organizing committee which consists of students of grade 10,11, and 12, and also some teachers. I wasn't part of the committee. Since the event took place on a Saturday, the committee announced that our presence at the festival would count as a mark for that day's Physical Education lesson.
Okay, so this is how my day went.
At 6.30 I arrived at school to participate in the parade from Jl. Bali, through Jl. Merdeka, and back to Jl. Bali. It was very tiring especially because we had to wear Kebaya during the whole parade. After the parade was over I went home and slept until 2 p.m. because i was unusually very tired. Then I got ready and headed back to Lapangan Bali just before the gate was closed.
Inside the festival area, there were lots and lots of tent stalls selling food from different parts of Indonesia, starting from Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua. There were also some food trucks of popular Bandung street food. Sadly, it was all a bit pricey for me, so I ended up getting Cireng and also iced lychee tea served in a very interesting bag.
At the festival there were loads of cool and inspiring performances such as; fashion show, wayang, traditional music, and a lot more. Plus the MC were very funny and was able to lighten up the show. The very highlight of the day was when the main artist came on stage and sang. They were The Cangcuters and RAN. Their performance brought laughter, joy, and lots of jumping at that event. A great way to end the festival.
Overall, I thought it was a great and fun experience and I hope I can be a part of the next event.
Thanks for reading!
