A Brief Introduction of My World

Well hello there!
Welcome to my very first blog.

Weather you came here on purpose or by chance, anyone and I mean everyone is welcome to stay and get to know me.

In this first post, I want to start by simply giving you an introduction to kick off -what I hope is going to be- a long and extraordinary journey on this blog.

Now, every good introduction needs a profile, and here's mine:
My name is Raissa Fattya, and I was born on the sixteenth of November in the year 2000 in the capital city of Indonesia. I am the daughter of an engineer and an entrepreneur. Both my older and younger siblings are male, which proves that I am an only daughter. At the time that I am writing this, I am 15 years old and go to SMAN 3 Bandung. I live quite close to school which is on Jl. Merdeka no. 25-29.

As you can recall, I previously said that my name is Raissa Fattya. This is all in all true, although I have always been used to go with the name Caca Nevasa. Since I started going to SMAN 3 Bandung, I often get asked the question; why are you called Caca Nevasa? I don't see the connection with Raissa? Well, long story short.

The nickname 'Caca' first appeared when I was in pre-school where there was another girl who was also named Raissa. Both of us then got the nickname 'Ica' and 'Caca'. Other than that, I remember nothing as to how I got that nickname. And as for Nevasa, I got from living overseas and adjusting to the surname thing. All my friends had their last names from their father's, and I wanted to do the same. So, that's how Caca Nevasa became the name I am used to right now.

The Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts center in Sydney, Australia. It is one of the 20th century's most famous and distinctive buildings. It was built by Danish architect Jorn Utzon and officially opened in 1973. Though its name suggests a single venue, the building comprises
multiple performance venues which together are among the busiest performing arts center– hosting well over 1,500 performances annually, attended by more than 1.2 million people.

The most noticeable thing about the structure is it's shell-like roof. To me, this is the part that makes the Sydney Opera House unique. There are also glass curtain walls in the foyer space.

The building is divided into a number of performance venues:
  • Concert Hall: With 2,679 seats, the home of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and used by a large number of other concert presenters. It contains the Sydney Opera House Grand Organ, the largest mechanical tracker action organ in the world, with over 10,000 pipes.
  • Joan Sutherland Theatre: A proscenium theater with 1,507 seats, the Sydney home of Opera Australia and The Australian Ballet. Until 16 October 2012 it was known as the Opera Theatre.
  • Drama Theatre: A proscenium theater with 544 seats, used by the Sydney Theatre Company and other dance and theatrical presenters.
  • Playhouse: An end-stage theatre with 398 seats.
  • Studio: A flexible space with 280 permanent seats (some of which can be folded up) and a maximum capacity of 400, depending on configuration.
  • Utzon Room: A small multi-purpose venue for parties, corporate functions and small productions (such as chamber music performances).
  • Recording Studio
  • Outdoor Forecourt: A flexible open-air venue with a wide range of configuration options, including the possibility of utilizing the Monumental Steps as audience seating, used for a range of community events and major outdoor performances.
Other areas are also used on a daily basis, for performances, conferences, ceremonies, and social events.

The first solo piano recital was in the Concert Hall on 10 April 1973, played by Romola Constatino to an invited audience.
Performances by Indonesian talents have also been held there. Some of those performances were, the great Addie MS and Twilite Orchestra, the very talented Joey Alexander, and many more.

So, what do you think? Intriguing right?
Well I personally think that Sydney is an overall great destination place for your next holiday. I could tell you all about the amazing places Sydney has to offer, but that can wait another time.
So for now, trust me, Sydney is worth the travel.

Yours sincerely,
Caca

QURTILAS - Qurban Tiga 2016

On the 13th of September 2016 (11 Dzulhijjah 1437 H), just a few days after our school's cultural festival, SMAN 3 Bandung held a Qurban event at school. Qurban is one of the Islamic traditions where we sacrifice a livestock animal during Idul Adha, such as cows, goats, and sometimes in developed countries such as Saudi Arabia, camels.

The preparation began about 2 months before the actual date. During that time all the members of the committee worked very hard in order for the event to go smoothly. Starting from publication, collecting donations, making a rundown, making sure the animals arrive safely, gathering all the tools that will be needed, and coordination between the students and teachers of the committee.

Tuesday, 07.00 a.m.
The first cow has been successfully slain (sembelih). It is then left aside for a while. After that, it's legs, tail, genetalia, and head are separated from the main part of the body. The body then gets skinned, just like they would at the butcher's, and moved to the cutting area. There, it gets cut into 300g pieces of meat, and the insides are separated as well. The same cycle goes for all the animals that have been set for Qurban. After all the meat, bones, and insides have been separated into individual plastic bags, they are sent to villagers nearby.

After all the dirty work was done, we got ready to pray zuhur and have lunch. All in all, the event went very well. This was all thanks to the hard work and team effort that was put in by all the people who came.

So that was a little breakdown from me of the Qurban activity that went on at my school this year. It is not perfect, yet nothing is perfect. But I know some words above might not suit the context, due to it being a religious term. But apart from that, I hope you guys enjoyed this post and hopefully I will do better and better for the next.

Sincerely,
Caca

Cultural Festival - Megantara

On Saturday, 10th September 2016, I had a very great experience. That day my school held a cultural festival at Lapangan Bali. The event was organized by the organizing committee which consists of students of grade 10,11, and 12, and also some teachers. I wasn't part of the committee. Since the event took place on a Saturday, the committee announced that our presence at the festival would count as a mark for that day's Physical Education lesson.

Okay, so this is how my day went.
At 6.30 I arrived at school to participate in the parade from Jl. Bali, through Jl. Merdeka, and back to Jl. Bali. It was very tiring especially because we had to wear Kebaya during the whole parade. After the parade was over I went home and slept until 2 p.m. because i was unusually very tired. Then I got ready and headed back to Lapangan Bali just before the gate was closed.

Inside the festival area, there were lots and lots of tent stalls selling food from different parts of Indonesia, starting from Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua. There were also some food trucks of popular Bandung street food. Sadly, it was all a bit pricey for me, so I ended up getting Cireng and also iced lychee tea served in a very interesting bag.

At the festival there were loads of cool and inspiring performances such as; fashion show, wayang, traditional music, and a lot more. Plus the MC were very funny and was able to lighten up the show. The very highlight of the day was when the main artist came on stage and sang. They were The Cangcuters and RAN. Their performance brought laughter, joy, and lots of jumping at that event. A great way to end the festival.

Overall, I thought it was a great and fun experience and I hope I can be a part of the next event.
Thanks for reading!
